Following all of the discussion around host card emulation since Google announced support for it in its Android 4.4 platform, the Bell ID team was delighted to see the statements from both MasterCard and Visa supporting the introduction of cloud based mobile payments using host card emulation.
Cloud-Based Mobile Payments
These announcements re-enforce the fact that cloud solutions are a viable proposition and that our secure element in the cloud host card emulation solution, launched in May 2013, can be implemented with no ambiguity surrounding the position of the payment schemes. Service providers and MNOs can now have full confidence in launching cloud-based mobile payments platforms and benefit from the increased flexibility, reduced time to market, lower costs and heightened control that it brings.
HCE Support
Since both BlackBerry and Android support host card emulation, our proven secure element in the cloud product can be used to bring mobile cloud services to close to 85% of the smartphone market. We have more than a year’s experience with this technology and are already working with key industry players to deliver mobile near field communication cloud platforms to market. We recently announced that a top Canadian bank has already deployed our solution to support the delivery of its mobile payments service.
