Founded in 1990 by Mark Horowitz and Mike Farmwald, Rambus scientists and engineers have spent the past quarter of a century bringing invention to market.
“Rambus has a rich, 25-year history of developing and licensing technology to a wide variety of customers across multiple industries,” said Rambus CMO Jerome Nadel.
“When we first introduced RDRAM, no one could have predicted that our portfolio would grow to include such diverse solutions from advanced security cores to CryptoManager, which is an enterprise-grade feature management platform that provides unparalleled security, to LSS serving as the “eyes of IoT” and binary pixel imagers for next-gen mobile devices.”
According to Nadel, Rambus 1.0 was defined by the role it played in revolutionizing the memory industry with RDRAM. By 2001, Rambus 2.0 had significantly expanded its portfolio to include more than memory and serial link interfaces with building out the security division and computational sensing and imaging. This helped clear the way for the era of Rambus 3.0, which represents a comprehensive business strategy of continued innovation, collaboration and delivering value through IP as a product.
“Rambus is now known for working with its partners and customers to develop IP that can be implemented by fabless and fully integrated semiconductor companies at a rapid pace,” Nadel explained.
Looking ahead, Nadel says the company will continue to innovate on semiconductor IP as well as derivative products to support a growing customer base and ecosystem of partners.
“Taking time to pause and celebrate our 25th anniversary highlights that our most valuable IP is our people,” said Nadel.
“This remarkable team of both long timers and new additions are working together towards a common vision and creating our future. It’s definitely an exciting time.”
