Rambus Bell ID, part of the Rambus Security Division, has introduced a versatile Token Gateway that allows banks to more easily integrate multiple mobile payment schemes. More specifically, issuing banks can now use a single software platform to manage tokenization activity across a range of ‘OEM Pay’ mobile wallets.
According to Dr. Martin Scott, senior VP and GM of the Rambus Security Division, the Token Gateway will help simplify and consolidate integration with multiple token service providers (TSPs) operated by third-parties, including international and domestic payment schemes.
“Managing the expanding tokenization infrastructure currently poses a significant challenge for issuers. As mobile payments roll out worldwide, banks are looking to give customers access to this technology by supporting a range of mobile wallet platforms,” he explained.
“However, issuers need to connect to a number of the payment schemes’ own tokenization services, each with their own individual requirements, specifications and interfaces. In addition, specifications are updated regularly so banks are required to constantly maintain their systems to stay connected to the schemes.”
As Scott notes, the Rambus Bell ID Token Gateway effectively ensures banks are always in synch with the latest credit and debit scheme requirements. Moreover, token service providers can use the platform to offer their own gateway services to banks.
“In the short-term, integration projects and on-boarding processes for schemes just became quicker and simpler,” Scott stated. “In the long-term, banks will no longer be required to coordinate the update process, making the lifecycle management of the OEM Pays easier and cheaper. Put simply, the Rambus Bell ID Token Gateway is modular by design, allowing it to more effectively accommodate the needs of individual banks.”
In addition to a lifecycle management module – which is fundamental to the platform – banks can add a card asset module that facilitates the personalization and branding of digital cards. A token vault mirror can also be added to maintain a log of tokenized data in-house, enabling banks to check a transaction without having to contact the relevant scheme TSP.
